The island of Tenerife is located in the Atlantic ocean about 200 miles off the West African coast at just over 2000 square kilometres it is the largest of the seven main Canary Islands. Even though small in size it has as many diverse climatic zones as a continent, you'll see numerous diverse types of agriculture from potatoes to orange trees.

The island is relatively small and you can take a hike or a bike, and discover the island. There are a number of hiking trails, climbing areas and dirt roads for mountain biking. It is perhaps one of the last European paradise isles. Offering lush forests, exotic fauna and flora, deserts, mountains, volcano's, on occasion snow, extremely attractive coastlines and impressive beaches.

The most frequented place in Santa Cruz is La Plaza de Espana by the sea, where the structure Cabildo de Tenerife stands. Castillo, the commercial street par excellence, of the city starts from Plaza de la Candelaria that is at the side. Behind it is the sixteenth century church of La Concepcion. Higher up stands the delightful Plaza del Principe, next to which is the eighteenth century San Francisco church and the convent, which houses the Municipal Museum of Fine Arts. Pilar Street, where the eighteenth century church of the same name stands. This street leads to what is perhaps the finest place in Santa Cruz, the park of Garcia Sanabria where thriving trees from all over the world stand out from dense exotic vegetation.
