Spain is situated at the Iberian Peninsula of which it occupies about 80%. The outstanding 20% is occupied by Portugal to the southwest of Europe. France and Andorra are located on Spains northern borders, with the Pyrenees in the south-west as a natural border. In addition, the Balearic Islands (Malaria) (Menorca) and (Ibiza) are located in the Mediterranean Sea the Canary Islands arenin the Atlantic Ocean close to the Moroccan coast. And (Ceuta) and (Melilla) is situated in north of Africa, and they are Spanish territory. Spain is the third largest country in Europe in landmass and the fifth in population.
Five large mountain ranges cross the country, and about half of it is situated at an elevated plain. Landscapes are enormously varied some almost desert like. Others are green and lush, and of course, the long coastline along the Mediterranean Sea from Pyrenees to Gibraltar. And in the west, the major part of the Iberian peninsula's western coast is occupied by Portugal along the Atlantic Ocean and Cantabrian Sea.
It is a charming country and generally known for music, flamenco dancing, bullfights. There are incredible beaches and plenty of sunshine. It is and has been for thousands of years one of the cultural centers of Europe with stunning cities and towns offering old monuments as well as innovative architecture. Its various regions are all different to each other, geographically, climatically and even in character.
