Malaga provides a doorway to the Costa Del Sol. Malaga airport is one of the largest in Spain and in a typical year can welcome up to ten million visitors. The city also has a major port and an industrial center for Southern Spain. Access to and exit from the city center is made easy by the N340 highway, and away you go.
This location has more than 3,000 years of history excavations have revealed evidence of the (Carthaginians) (Romans) and the Moors. As a result there is a large variety of historical monuments located here. The cathedral is known as (La Manquita) meaning the little one-armed lady. Due to the length of time which it took to construct the cathedral today has characteristics of the Renaissance, Baroque and Neo-classical styles.
The Alcazabar which is a fifteenth century Moorish fort and is one of the most significant in the area. The roof of the Alcazabar offers panoramic views of the city and the port. Further on from the Alcazabar is the Castle which stands on Monte Del Faro (Lighthouse Mountain). At the foot of the hill is the ayuntamiento (town hall) that is situated next to the museum in the Palacio de la Aduana. In fact, the city has so much to offer as a result of its history one of the best ways to see it is by open top bus.
