Linz is the third largest city in Austria located in the north central part of Austria. Linz airport (LNZ) also known as (Blue Dabube airport) is only 12 km south-west of the city center with all the facilities for two-day travelers. Very much the cosmopolitan center that should be on the program of each visitor. Directly situated between Vienna and Salzburg it's an industrial town but not your conventional industrial-town with hundreds of factories churning out pollution. The town has a great village-type feel about it And luckily the industrial areas is confined to the eastern boundary of the town well away from the center.
Discover some of the inner courtyards between the Main Square and the Old Town Quarter. There are original Roman foundations to vaults dating back to medieval times. Explore the narrow side streets with charming little antique shops the hardened shopper may discover a great hunting ground for a great number of unique souvenirs.
Scholars, poets, musicians and architects found the town a most agreeable place to put down roots. Astronomer Johannes Kepler taught at the university in the 17th century and composer Anton Bruckner was organist at the cathedral in the 19th century. Mozart and Beethoven stopped here long enough to write a Symphony and the 8th respectively. On the city's doorstep is one of the world's most outstanding Baroque edifices. Located here with its white and gold church with a marble hall and rare book library, the Abbey St Florian. Austria's own Bruckner is buried beneath his treasured organ in the crypt.
