This island has a big contrast the Scenery, climate, beaches, and its modern accommodation. The stamp of (Cesar Manrique) turned Lanzarote into a great holiday destination for the Canary Islands. The land is smooth and volcanic land with ample fields of lava. The earthly surface is about 905 square Km. The annual average temperature goes up to 25C in August and 17C in January.
The island is named after Genoese navigator (Lancelotto Malocello) who came to the island in 1312. And was responsible for introducing it to the European powers of the day. The source of the original population is still uncertain but numerous historians consider that they belonged to a race known as (Cro-magnon). Who lived in the south west of France many thousands of years ago. Leaving their homes they made their way via Italy and North Africa. On arrival, they named the island (Tite-Roy-Gatra). The remains of a castle of one of their kings (Zonzomas) can still be seen. The Volcano may well be in excess of two million years old but its last volcanic eruption was less than 300 years ago. The landscape today retains a desolate look but is movingly striking.
